I wanted to show you my creative thought process in creating and designing cards for a swap. What is a swap, you ask? Well a swap is where a group of people make a specific number of items that follow a set list of requirements and theme. In my case, I was to make full cards (not card fronts) and my requirement was to make 5+1 by the deadline date and to only use stamp sets from the Occasions mini catalog. When I had my first preview of the Occasions mini catalog, I had come across one stamp set that I instant fell in love with. The stamp set is Vivid Vases. I know, when I saw this stamp set, that I wanted to do the Coloring technique. I love doing the Coloring technique, and yes I still color in coloring books too!
When working on a swap I don’t always come up with a design as was the case with this swap. Sometimes it is hard to come up with one. So what I did was just stamped the image on Whisper White card stock and colored it in with my favorite colors. After I colored it, I looked at it and then I made notes on the changes I wanted to make to the next card. Here is the card with the notes:
I then stamped the image again and colored it according to my notes and made a few more changes. Then I decided on how to pair it with other card stock to make my cards. I ended up with this final card:
Stamp set: Vivid Vases, Paper: Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Watercolor Designer Paper, Ink: Early Espresso, Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral, Real Red, So Saffron, and Crisp Cantaloupe.
As you can see, it is different from what I started out with. Anyone can design cards, all they need is to use their imagination and be open to inspiration! If you need any of the supplies to make this card, please feel free to contact me at email@example.com.

Hello my crafty friends! I would like to thank everyone who participated in the Mystery Hostess drawing celebrating the re-launch of my blog. We do not have a winner. This is because we needed to accumulate $30 in hostess benefits for the drawing and we didn’t reach that. No worries though, those who participated will not walk away empty handed. I will be sending to them via U.S. Mail a little “thank you” for participating and celebrating the re-launch of my blog.
Again, thank you so much! I am very appreciative of those who not only read my blog, but follow it and also follow my Facebook page. Thank you so, so very much!! 🙂
Well its almost here folks! Coming September 1, 2013, I will have a relaunch of my blog to include my new Stampin Up! business. I’m so excited for all of the new things that I will include on my website and also the new graphics. Your going to love it!
So check back on September 1, 2013 for all of the new updates to the website!
I’ve been home sick today and I had time while I sit against a heating pad, to work on this post. I just wanted to give y’all a heads up that there will be a few changes around this blog over the next few weeks. A few days ago, I signed up to be a Stampin Up! demonstrator. About 5 or 6 years ago, I was a demonstrator for a while but I wasn’t able to stay with it due to unforeseen circumstances. This time, after talking it over with my family, I decided to rejoin.
I have always loved Stampin Up! products and still have many of my inks and tools that I purchased. Plus, my two other sisters were demonstrators as well and when they were no longer demonstrators, they gave me all of their tools and supplies. So a lot of my stamping and scrapbooking supplies I have were mostly from Stampin Up!. I will have a Stampin Up! ordering website, but I will also have some Stampin Up! items here on this blog as well. I will still be posting the same stuff that I have in the past, but I am now adding Stampin Up! posts as well.
The changes will come slowly, you will see a little here and a little there and it may come in waves. However, I do plan on having an official on-line launch party when the blog is done and am looking into getting some free goodies for my readers. So keep returning to see what new changes have taken place and to find out how to get your free goodies when the new blog launches!
Thank you to all of those who have served, are serving in the military, or who have made the ultimate sacrifice while in the military. Also a thank you to the families of those in the military. I know that you also made sacrifices so that your loved one in the military can do what they do best. I know that it is not enough, but thank you very much!!
I just wanted to let you all know that I will be on a short hiatus. Yesterday, my daughter missed a step and fell down at school. She ended up spraining her ankle and is currently on crutches. Also, at the end of this month, we are moving. So I will be back the first full week of December. I have some new craft projects I worked on over the past few weeks that I wanted to post about. I have my sister’s bridal shower invitation that me and another of my sisters designed. I also have my daughter’s last birthday party. It was a Spa party!!!
I also will be posting about our upcoming Christmas dinner party. Every year, Thanksgiving and Christmas is usually done at my younger sister’s house because she can accomodate our family. Well my brother-in-law has hurt his back and they can’t do both holidays. So my hubby and I decided to help and take Christmas to give them a break. We have a lot of things planned and depending on where we move to, we might get to do all that we planned.
Tune in and see what happens!!!
Till then… Happy Thanksgiving!!!
