I wanted to show you my creative thought process in creating and designing cards for a swap. What is a swap, you ask? Well a swap is where a group of people make a specific number of items that follow a set list of requirements and theme. In my case, I was to make full cards (not card fronts) and my requirement was to make 5+1 by the deadline date and to only use stamp sets from the Occasions mini catalog. When I had my first preview of the Occasions mini catalog, I had come across one stamp set that I instant fell in love with. The stamp set is Vivid Vases. I know, when I saw this stamp set, that I wanted to do the Coloring technique. I love doing the Coloring technique, and yes I still color in coloring books too!
When working on a swap I don’t always come up with a design as was the case with this swap. Sometimes it is hard to come up with one. So what I did was just stamped the image on Whisper White card stock and colored it in with my favorite colors. After I colored it, I looked at it and then I made notes on the changes I wanted to make to the next card. Here is the card with the notes:
I then stamped the image again and colored it according to my notes and made a few more changes. Then I decided on how to pair it with other card stock to make my cards. I ended up with this final card:
As you can see, it is different from what I started out with. Anyone can design cards, all they need is to use their imagination and be open to inspiration! If you need any of the supplies to make this card, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
